  • Deep taproot for soil penetration
  • Flowers late-season (extends beneficial insect food window)
  • Edible foliage + seed
  • Creates light dappled shade for sensitive plants

  • Slightly separate from crop trunks due to mild allelopathy
  • Behind or to the side of orchard guilds
  • Sunny mid- to upper-slope zones
  • Good along windward (west-facing) edges to attract predator insects
