A very hardy, large, slow growing shrub or small tree, 3 - 6 m tall, with round - crowned to spreading habit. Under favourable conditions it may grow as large as 12 m tall and 15 m across. It occurs naturally in the warm to very hot and arid zones in the central - western part of Western Australia, altitude 10 - 500 m and rainfall of 95 - 230 mm. Grows on sands and loams, including saline, calcareous types. Has potential for soil stabilisation on calcareous and saline soils.
