A moderately fast growing, large shrub to shrubby tree grows to 1.5 to 4 metres. Grows in hot dry zones on well drained, infertile, acidic and neutral sands and loams, altitude 100 - 700 m, and rainfall 100-550 mm.
Palatable to cattle but not grazed to any great extent. Good potential for fuel and soil stabilisation.
